EMDR Therapy
A different way to heal from trauma, anxiety, and distressing experiences
If you’ve tried talking about your experiences but still feel stuck, EMDR may help you move forward in a way that feels more effective and lasting.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps your brain process and heal from distressing memories so they no longer feel overwhelming.
What is EMDR?
EMDR is based on the idea that your brain can heal, just like your body can.
Sometimes, when something overwhelming happens, your brain doesn’t fully process it. The memory can feel “stuck,” which is why it may still trigger strong emotions, anxiety, or physical reactions.
EMDR helps your brain reprocess those memories, so they feel less intense and no longer control your present.
How does EMDR work?
During EMDR, we use bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements or tapping) while you briefly focus on a distressing memory.
This helps your brain:
Process the memory in a new way
Reduce emotional intensity
Shift negative beliefs
Store the memory more adaptively
You are fully awake, aware, and in control the entire time.
What EMDR can help with
EMDR is effective for more than just major trauma. It can help with:
Trauma and PTSD
Anxiety and panic
Depression
Childhood experiences
Relationship wounds
Negative self-beliefs
Stressful or overwhelming life events
What does EMDR feel like?
Everyone’s experience is different, but many clients report:
Memories feel less vivid or intense
Emotions become more manageable
New insights or perspectives emerge
A sense of relief or resolution
You won’t be forced to go deeper than you’re ready for. We go at your pace.
Is EMDR safe?
Yes. EMDR is a well-researched, structured therapy used worldwide.
Before any processing begins, we focus on:
Building coping skills
Creating emotional safety
Making sure you feel prepared
Your safety and stability come first.
What to expect in EMDR therapy
EMDR follows a structured process:

Do I have to talk about everything?
No.
You don’t have to share every detail of your experience for EMDR to work. This makes it especially helpful if:
Talking feels overwhelming
You don’t want to revisit everything verbally
You’ve tried traditional talk therapy without relief
Is EMDR right for me?
EMDR may be a good fit if:
You feel stuck despite trying therapy
You’re easily triggered or overwhelmed
You want deeper, lasting change and not just coping
You don’t have to keep reliving the past
Healing is possible and you don’t have to do it alone.
